Tight, Tone, and a Yoga Butt
I have heard and noticed that people have made many comments about gaining "mucho" weight during their marriage. Some have gained significantly, some have gained through age, and others have gained from illnesses and diseases. I can, honestly, say that marriage tends to add poundage to the hips, thighs, and abs. Unlike, some married couples, I have lost weight as a newly wed.
My husband, Isaac, is a naturally athletically built man. He is a nature aficionado; he loves working out, but he has injured his shoulder due to the physical demands of his job. He inspires me to maintain a healthier lifestyle. Since his workout routine have decreased, I made mental note that I, too, can decrease my motivation to workout. During the first few months of our marriage, I myself have lapsed, but not from injuries, rather, guilty from overeating-food gluttony.
It's hard to be tight, tone, and acquire a perky, yoga butt. I remember my bachelor days in Murray Hill, Manhattan: my yoga teacher, Vicki, fascinated me with the concept of a "yoga butt." Vicki's toned, slender body was healthy slender, not scary thin. I always thought woman where classified in three main body groups: thin (like bones protruding), average (borderline overweight), and fat (technically obese- according to BMI charts).
It was rare for me to see a women toned. I hardly found a healthy, firmed gal with defined, arm biceps, a perky butt, toned abs, and strong legs. Yoga gurus and active participators changed my perspective on a healthy body.
Yoga attendees are strong and healthy people. I thought being "pretty" meant having the thin frame Hollywood. Sadly, many Manhattanite women still strive for the gaunt, emaciated look. I intellectually knew that celebrities portrayed an unrealistic portrayal of the average women, but emotionally didn't accept my own belief system and rational conclusions.
The pressure to be thin and skinny are still evident today, in fact, the thin craze mindset and hysteria have rubbed off on brides-to-be. More brides are feeling the pressure to look "thin" in their wedding gowns. A bride's dread of looking "fat" in her wedding album is motivation itself to diet excessively. I, unlike, the modern bride, gained a lot of weight before my "I do's".
I even popped a bridal gown button on my BIG DAY! Luckily, my two sister-in-law's helped cover the tiny, budding hole. After settling in as a newly bride, I became unaware of my toxic, addictive eating habits. For reasons abound, I began to cope with stress and low self-image with comfort foods, my favorites: chips and tortilla cheese dip, fries, and snacks. One day, out of sheer bravery and fear (of hurting me), Isaac sat me down and told me I had an addiction. I, at first, was very defensive, and thought him controlling, later realized that I did have a problem.
I created my own version of the "Biggest Loser" weight loss / toned program. I look forward sharing my tips, routine, and healthy recipes-Italian style with you.

The Thankful Project
Being thankful in a thankless, cynical world.
Let's be honest, life is full of tribulations mixed with montages of happiness.
It's hard to see a hopeful perspective in this New Year of 2011.
More people are losing their jobs, millions of people without healthcare,
And the economy is crippling like Tiny Tim.
Faith and love are priceless emotions and states we cling to for happiness.
The state of finding hope sustains us during tumultuous times.
My project this year is to find thanks and gratitude as I look for a better job,
Find peace within myself, to spend less- be satisfied more, and to Love my husband with all
my heart.
I am inspired to partake on project I created,
The Thankful Project in a Thankless World.

The Myth of the Middle Class
Middle Class No More?
As the growing despair in attempting to revive our economy seems bleak; a hope for a better outcome still remain uncertain.
This month's January 11' National Geographic Population 7 Billion writes in depth abut the growing global population. As the population grows, sadly our debt rises, and our economy lessens. What are we to do? Is the unifying global concern. Why are so many intelligent capable economist bewildered? Or should we say its rather complicated? Or is it because all the countries have economically slept with each other. And now we are in a big orgy mess.
The government pacifies our growing outcries. The talk around the block buzzes the possibly scare of a big government coup. On the other hand, some say its just a Republican hoax (is it?) and the democrats are here to make things right (for real?) But the government was responsible for handing out bailouts to big companies like AIG.
" The American International Group (AIG), a large insurance corporation, was bailed out in September, 2008. The original bailout terms provided AIG with an $85-billion bridge loan. AIG was considered to be a "systematically significant institution." In other words, its failure could cause a domino effect of consequences."

My political persuasions are more moderate. I don't trust in Big Brother looking out for a little gal like me. Many people are still upset with the 2008 bailout incident. Some local and independent business' never got a break. They never received any government bailouts.
Wait there is one its called 'filling for bankruptcy." Even though this option seems, seemingly harmless; it's really detrimental. Read Suze Orman's book The Money Book for the Young Fabulous and Broke, she dispels the myth of bankruptcy. She explains in detail about the problems of bankruptcy.
People are blind followers. They tend to believe what media hand fees them. Perhaps this is because we have sheep like mentality. We are naive when it comes to politicians. Perhaps the dubbed "dashing" Obama has hoodwinked us into believing he is different than the previous presidents? Whose to say what goes behind closed doors.
As the New Year unfolds all we can have is faith that our economy will get better. Till then big money making corporations like Walmart and Exxon Mobil have made the 2010 Fortune Top Grossing Companies. http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/bestcompanies/2010/
On the other side, us Americans are now reducing are hourly pay to $8. At one time that seemed so cheap, but now its a blessing to have a job. Americans have become the new Sweat Shop Workers. Working more for Less.
